The Griffin Memorial Endowment Trust (GMET) is a public charitable trust, registered in Kenya on 12th June 2007 by the Old Starehian Society and the Managing Committee of Starehe Boys Centre & School;without any political, religious or racial affiliations. GMET was jointly founded by the Old Starehian Society and the Starehe Boys' Centre & School Managing Committee. The registered office of the Trust is in Starehe Boys’ Centre and School, Nairobi, Kenya.
The purpose of GMET is to support the sustenance and growth of the Starehe Institutions in advancing their primary goal of providing education, character building, health and wellbeing to bright, poor and deserving boys and girls from Kenya. It also seeks to support the students and alumni towards bettering their education, acquisition of skills, health, social-economic welfare and wellbeing.

Objectives
The primary objects of the Trust are to:
- Support the sustenance and growth of Starehe Boys’ Centre & School in its primary goal of providing free education, character building, health and wellbeing to bright, poor, deserving students from Kenya
- Support the current students of Starehe Boys’ Centre towards bettering their education, acquisition of skills, health, social-economic welfare and well being
- Support the alumni (old-boys) of Starehe Boys’ Centre towards bettering their education, acquisition of skills, health, social economic welfare and well being
The secondary objects of the Trust are to:
- Support Starehe Girls’ Centre in advancing its primary goal of providing education, character building, health and wellbeing to bright, poor and deserving girls from Kenya
- Support the current students of Starehe Girls Centre in the field of Education, Acquisition of Skills, Advancement of Social health and wellbeing
- Support the members of the general public in the field of Education, Acquisition of Skills, Advancement of Social health and wellbeing

Mandate
To further its objects, the Trust may:
- Fundraise and accept donations, legacies and bequests from public, private and official sources throughout the world;
- Manage a treasury function; receive, hold, invest, administer and distribute funds;
- Coordinate, facilitate and manage the implementation of the Trust’s values, vision, mission, strategy, policies, standards and systems;
- Develop policies for application by the Trust
- Operate beneficiary-targeted development programs
- Provide support, services and advice to organs and beneficiaries;
- Acquire any real or personal property and any rights or privileges and construct and maintain, alter and equip any buildings;
- Engage and pay employees and professional or other advisers and make reasonable provision for payment of pensions and other retirement benefits to or on behalf of employees and their spouses and dependents;
- Subject to any consent required by law, borrow or raise and secure the payment of money for any purpose including for the purposes of investment or of raising funds;
- Do all such other lawful things as may further the Trust’s objectives
Resources
The Trust’s resources consist of:
- Grants, donations, gifts, legacies and bequests;
- Contributions from donors and well-wishers;
- Income from investments of Trust Fund
- All other assets, income and receipts
Nature of Funds
The trust holds, invests and disburses two (2) kinds of funds namely;
- Primary Trust Fund: The principal money or property intended for permanent endowment of which only the profit, rent and income is available to trustees for use towards the objects of the Trust.
- Secondary Trust Fund: The profit, rent and income derived from the Primary Trust Fund; plus, any other funds or property which is not required to be held as a permanent endowment.
